General Purpose of Job
Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by compiling information, preparing profit and loss statements, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities described below are subject to management discretion and may be changed at any time based upon corporate need or reasonable accommodation. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor of this position.
* Aids in preparation of profit and loss statements and monthly closing and cost accounting reports.
* Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions.
* Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
* Analyze and review budgets and expenditures for local, state, federal, and private funding, contracts, and grants.
* Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.
* Prepare and review budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents.
* Analyze revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budget levels, and ensure expenditure control.
* Explain billing invoices and accounting policies to staff and vendors.
* Resolve accounting discrepancies.
* Recommend, develop and maintain financial data bases, computer software systems and manual filing systems.
* Supervise the input and handling of financial data and reports for the company’s automated financial systems.
* Interact with internal and external auditors in completing audits.
* Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
* Continuous management and support of budget and forecast activities.
* Monitor and support taxation issues.
* Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
* Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
* Secures financial information by completing data base backups.
* Maintains the continuous management and support of Fixed Assets activities
Education and/or Experience
* BS/BA degree in Accounting.
* Two (2) years or more experience in Cost Accounting.
* Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, economic and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
* Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications.
* Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
* Knowledge of auditing practices and principles.
* Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
* Visual Basic (VB) or comparable programming experience preferred.
